Fathers’ Rights Do They Have Any?

Divorce is one of the most common types of family law that is practiced in the United States. Typically, if you are coming up from a first divorce, the chances are the marriage lasted about 8 years.

Believe it or not, if you are the biological father of a child you still have no parental rights if you are not married to the mother.

There are other course of establishing paternity, such as paternity tests which are some of the first ways that people will establish their legal claims to a child. This might not lead to child custody, but it is, at the very least, a start.

When someone is going through divorce, it is often best to avoid destructive behaviors. For example, it is all too common, according to a study coming from the University of Cincinnati, for men to turn to drinking after a divorce. This study also found that men were much more likely to turn to drinking in these situations than women were.

Divorce is also common in the United States. Almost half of marriages end in divorce, and more than half of all second marriages end in divorce. Regardless of what happens, people need to be prepared. Family law is complicated. It requires being prepared for every contingency.
